Who we are
TechGurus is an Australian AI and technology consultancy based in Sydney, NSW. We help small and medium businesses adopt AI, automate work and build custom tools. This policy explains how we handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
From this website, we collect the information you provide when you contact us or use our tools: name, business name, email address, phone number and the details of your enquiry. We also collect basic, aggregated analytics about how the site is used. We do not ask for client business data, documents or system access through the website.
How we use it
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, deliver services you have engaged us for, and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not add enquirers to marketing lists without consent.
AI models and your data
When we use AI as part of a service, we use closed, commercial AI models provided under business agreements. Under those agreements your data is not used to train the providers' models, and your inputs and the resulting outputs are not used to improve their general models. We do not use consumer or free AI tools that retain or learn from your data for client work. Before any of your data is sent to an AI model, we document which model and provider will process it.
Client data in projects
Where we handle data belonging to a client's business, a written engagement or data-handling agreement governs its use. We design for data to stay within the client's own environment and Australian-hosted services wherever practical, we apply least-privilege access, and we document what is processed where before work begins.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this website and our business, and some of them store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. These include our email delivery provider (which handles form submissions and replies), our website hosting provider, and our website analytics provider. We only share what each provider needs to do its job, and we do not sell personal information to anyone. Where information is handled overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure how the site is used, such as which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors come from. This information is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on, and the site will still work.
Marketing communications
When you ask for something that includes follow-up material, such as the Shadow AI Audit report and its short follow-up series, we send it because you requested it. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe that takes effect straight away. We do not add enquirers to marketing lists without consent.
Storage, security and retention
We use reputable cloud providers, prefer Australian-hosted infrastructure where practical, and protect information in transit and at rest. We keep enquiry information only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry or engagement and to meet our legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it.
Data breaches
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, or make a complaint by emailing sales@techgurus.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our services or obligations change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated, and the current version always lives on this page.
